Czech RegioJet to launch night train from Ukraine to Prague

The train will depart once a day in both directions.

The Czech railway and bus carrier RegioJet plans to launch the direct night train running from the capital city of Prague to Ukraine's Mostyska-II railway station in June 2020.

RegioJet has already applied to the Department of Access to Transport Infrastructure, the Ekonomichna Pravda online newspaper reported on August 22, referring to the Czech Zdopravy news outlet.

The distance between the stations is 754 kilometers. The train will depart once a day in both directions, the publication said.

It is noted the train with a capacity of 400-600 seats will consist of 8-12 sleeping cars. It will depart from Prague at 22:10 and arrive at Mostyska-II at 09:30.

In the opposite direction, the train will depart in the evening and arrive in Prague at 06:10 (the difference is determined by the time zone).

In the Czech Republic, the train is supposed to stop in Pardubice, Zábřeh, Olomouc, Hranice na Moravě, and Ostrava, as well as in Krakow and Rzeszów.

The company also plans to offer bus transportation from Mostiska-II to the Ukrainian city of Lviv and other regions of the country.

RegioJet now offers daily railway connection with Ukraine's Uzhgorod and Mukachevo combined with the Prague – Košice rail service and the guaranteed service by the Košice – Uzhgorod – Mukachevo train. RegioJet carries about 30,000 passengers a year on the route, the company said.
