SkyUp Airlines has submitted an application to the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine for regular flights from Kyiv to Sri Lanka and Austria, the Avianews aviation news portal said on August 23.

In particular, SkyUp asks for permission to fly from Kyiv to Colombo twice a week from October 1 for an unlimited period, as well as launch the Kyiv-Salzburg flights on the same terms.

At present, there are no direct flights from Ukraine to Colombo and Salzburg. Earlier, the Kyiv-Colombo flight was operated by Ukraine's largest air carrier, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), which later closed it due to the flight's inefficiency.
