Fresh stats outline dynamics of income growth in Ukraine over past three years

Unemployment rate slid from 9.3% to 8.8%.

The minimum wage in Ukraine since 2016 has tripled from UAH 1,378 (US$54.88) to UAH 4,137 ($164.76), while the average salary of a full-time employee has doubled – from UAH 4,839 ($192.72) to UAH 10,027 ($399.35), as stated in the report of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, handed over to reporters at the final press conference of Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva.

"During 2016-2019, after a drop in 2014-2015, there has been a stable growth trend in real incomes of the population," the report said.

Reva noted that salaries rose among the least socially protected strata, including low-skilled workers.

The report also says the subsistence minimum increased by 45%, to UAH 1,936, the minimum pension – by 45.6%, to UAH 1,564 ($62.29), and the average pension – by 76.5%, to UAH 3,006 ($119.72).

At the same time, the unemployment rate over the three years decreased from 9.3% (1.67 million unemployed people of working age) to 8.8% (1.57 million people).

It is noted that in 2019, the trend continues toward the increase in the number of new jobs.

At the same time, the number of people employed in newly created jobs reached 276,100, exceeding the number of those laid off due to changes in production organization by 154,400.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman predicted an increase in the average salary next year to $540.
