Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk expects that a new IMF mission will arrive in Kyiv in a few weeks to negotiate a new cooperation program with Ukraine for a period of three to four years.

"In a few weeks. there will be an IMF mission in Kyiv, with which we will negotiate a new three- to four-year cooperation program with Ukraine," Honcharuk said in a parliament address on Thursday, Aug 29.

"It is very important for us to change our attitude to Ukraine in the world. It's about our image. Our credit rating speaks for itself, all these speculative names do not offend, but this is the result of our joint work over the past decades. This needs to be changed as soon as possible. And the basis for these changes should become cooperation with our international partners and creditors," Honcharuk added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the IMF mission worked in Ukraine in May to review the fulfillment of the conditions for the provision of the next $1.3 billion loan tranche under the current stand-by program and to study the issue of liability for illegal enrichment, canceled in February by a ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

On the eve of the mission's arrival, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky initiated early parliamentary elections for July 21 and proposed that the current government resign.

As a result of the May visit, the IMF announced that the Fund would resume negotiations on further cooperation with Ukraine after the elections to the Verkhovna Rada are held and the new Cabinet is formed.
