Senior analyst with Forex Club Andriy Shevchyshyn says the forex rate of the hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency, may strengthen to UAH 25 per U.S. dollar in the first week of September.

The reference value of the hryvnia exchange rate was UAH 25.23 to the dollar as of Sep 1.

"It is likely that the hryvnia exchange rate will still be stable in the near future and will be within the range of UAH 25-UAH 25.2 per dollar," the expert told the Ukrainian online news outlet Obozrevatel on September 2.

The expert added that UAH stabilization is taking place against the backdrop of a statement by MP Daniil Hetmantsev (Servant of the People), who heads the Financial and Customs Policy Committee, that an increase in income tax is possible.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's national currency in June 2019 strengthened by 2.5% against the U.S. dollar to UAH 26.18, and by 4.4% in July 2019, to UAH 25.02.

Ukraine's national currency, is strengthening due to an increase in non-residents' demand for Ukrainian assets, favorable trading conditions for Ukrainian exporters, receipts from labor migrants, and low dividends repatriation, according to the National Bank.
