Ukraine's government renames ministries

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to unite and reorganize certain ministries.

Relevant resolution No. 829 dated September 2 was posted on the government portal.

In particular, to optimize the system of central executive bodies and under Paragraphs 9 and 91 of Article 116 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the government renamed the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utility Services into the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine. The Economic Development and Trade Ministry was renamed into the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, while Ukraine's Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry into the Energy and Environmental Protection Ministry. The Ministry for Veterans Affairs was renamed into the Ministry for Veterans, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry was also reorganized by merging with the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture; the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry with the Energy and Environmental Protection Ministry; the Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons with the Ministry for Veterans, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.

In addition, the Cabinet created the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine through transformation and entrusting the tasks and functions of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which have been liquidated.

The Ministry of Finance was instructed to provide for the costs required to ensure the implementation of the resolution when drafting proposals to amend the law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2019.
