Purchases of cash foreign currency by Ukrainians through the banking system, which were estimated at US$1.424 billion, exceeded the sales by $97 million in August 2019.

Purchases of foreign currency have been exceeding the sales for the second month in a row after Ukrainians sold more currency in May and June, according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
In January-August 2019, the foreign currency sales through the banking system remained high, i.e. $56.5 million up on purchases, the report said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, purchases of foreign currency by the Ukrainian population in July 2019 amounted to $1.501 billion, which was $93.7 million up on sales.
