Ukraine making largest payment on debt in 2019 at $1.1 bln

That's including a payment on Eurobonds, issued in 2015, worth $661 million, plus interest accrued.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine today repays US$661 million on Eurobonds issued in November 2015 as part of the restructuring, as well as interest accrued in the amount of $444 million.

"All payments on external government loan bonds, issued in 2015, in the amount of 6$61.34 million plus interest payments on bonds issued in 2015 maturing in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, are being carried out today until the end of the day," the report said.

The Finance Ministry explained that payments are made today, since September 1 was Sunday, and September 2 is a day off in the United States.

UNIAN memo. The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine in November 2015 announced the completion of a partial restructuring of the public debt in the amount of $18 billion.

In exchange for these bonds, new bonds were issued with a 7.75% yield, maturing from 2019 to 2027, as well as government derivatives.

The volume of Ukraine's debt payments to external lenders in 2019 will total about $6 billion.

The Ministry of Finance made the previous largest payment this year in May, paying off $1 billion on five-year Eurobonds issued in 2014 under U.S. guarantees.
