Ukraine sees 4% GDP growth in Jan-July

The indicator was reached due to the positive trends in the agricultural sector, construction, transport, the retail sector of the domestic market, and a slight increase in industrial production.

Ukraine's Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ministry says the GDP growth in Ukraine in January-July 2019 was estimated at 4%.

"In total, [the country's] GDP growth in seven months of 2019 is tentatively estimated at 4% (+/- 0.2%)," the ministry's press service said on September 4.

The indicator was reached due to the positive trends in the agricultural sector, which exceeded expectations, as well as construction, transport, the retail sector of the domestic market, and a slight increase in industrial production, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine projected Ukraine's GDP growth in 2019 at 3%, the National Bank at 2.5%, the International Monetary Fund at 2.7%, and the World Bank at 2.9%.

According to the consensus forecast compiled by UNIAN based on experts' estimates, the country's economic growth in 2019 will slow to 2.8%.
