EU prolongs Russia sanctions over aggression against Ukraine

The Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States to the European Union (COREPER) has decided to extend sanctions imposed against individuals and companies whose actions undermine Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.

That's according to Russia's Interfax citing its source in EU diplomatic circles.

"The envoys have agreed on the issue," the source said.

"Now a formal decision of the Council of the European Union should follow. It will, apparently, be adopted next week in a written procedure. After it is published in the EU Official  Journal, the decision will come into force. Follow our communiques," the source told the agency.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in late June, the Council of the European Union prolonged economic sanctions related to Russia's financial, energy, and defense sectors.
