Ukraine boosts grain exports by over 47% since July 1

Ukrainian farmers exported 10 million tonnes of grain from July 1 (when the 2019-2020 (July 2019 – June 2020) marketing year (MY) began) to September 5, which was 47% more than by the same date last year, the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has said.

In particular, Ukraine exported over 6.1 million tonnes of wheat, almost 2.2 million tonnes of barley, and 1.7 million tonnes of maize.

In addition, during the reporting period, farmers shipped 1.8 million tonnes of oilseeds abroad, which was 12.5% higher than on September 5, 2018.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers reduced grain exports by 0.4% in 2018, to 41.7 million tonnes.

The country's agribusinesses in MY 2018-2019 exported 49.7 million tonnes of grain, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence.

In 2018, Ukraine harvested a record high yield of grains, having threshed 70.1 million tonnes, according to the agrarian ministry.
