Ukraine to borrow about US$15.4 bln in 2020 – finance minister

The country's debt repayments next year will total US$17.7 billion.

Ukraine's Finance Minister Oksana Markarova says the government plans to raise about UAH 380 billion, or US$15.4 billion, in borrowings in 2020.

"We plan about UAH 380 billion in borrowings. We hope these will be borrowings, inter alia, from our official lenders," she told a briefing after a government meeting on September 15.

Markarova says debt repayments next year will total UAH 438 billion, or US$17.7 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers on September 15 tabled a draft budget for 2020 in parliament for consideration at first reading.

The document is based on the current macroeconomic forecasts with a deficit set at UAH 90.5 billion or US$3.7 million, which is 2.09% of GDP.

According to the State Debt Management Program for 2019, the finance ministry planned to borrow UAH 345.9 billion, or US$14 billion, in 2019.
