Ukraine increases grain exports by 1.5 times

Ukrainian farmers from the beginning of the 2019-2020 marketing year (MY, July 2019 - June 2020) exported 11.1 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops as of Sept 16, which is 52% more than as of the same date last year.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

In particular, more than 6.8 million tonnes of wheat was exported, nearly 2.5 million tones of barley, and 1.9 million tonnes of maize.

In addition, during the reporting period, farmers delivered abroad 61,300 tonnes of wheat flour, which is also 1.5 times more than for the same period last year.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2018-2019, agrarians exported 49.7 million tones of cereals, which is a record in the history of state independence. The previous grain export record in Ukraine was witnessed in 2016-2017 MY at the level of 43.8 million tonnes.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the grain crop in Ukraine in 2018 amounted to a record 70.1 million tonnes.
