Number of Ukrainian companies licensed to export animal foodstuffs to EU increasing

The respective authorities of Ukraine and other countries in January-July 2019 approved 24 veterinary certificates for exports of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry says 138 Ukrainian enterprises are allowed to export foodstuffs of animal origin onto European markets in 2019 against 126 enterprises in 2018.

"As of August 30, 2019, some 138 Ukrainian enterprises were allowed to export animal products to the European Union," the ministry's press service told UNIAN on September 16.

Ukrainian enterprises that are qualified to supply products to European markets include four producers of poultry and one producer of poultry products; two dairy producers; 27 manufacturers of fish products; four producers of eggs and egg products; 72 honey producers; six snail producers; a manufacturer of intestinal raw materials; and a producer of food collagen.

The respective authorities of Ukraine and other countries in January-July 2019 approved 24 international veterinary certificates for exports of Ukrainian agricultural products.

In particular, veterinary certificates were agreed with Bosnia and Herzegovina for the export of Ukrainian milk and dairy products, poultry, eggs, food collagen, one-day chickens and hatching eggs (except for non-keel bone species); Qatar – for exports of meat and meat products (in particular, poultry and beef), milk and dairy products, shell eggs and egg products, fish and fish products, as well as processed foodstuffs; the Republic of Lebanon – for exports of Ukrainian cattle for slaughter; the Republic of Macedonia – for exports of Ukrainian poultry, animal feed, dairy products, eggs and egg products; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – for shipments of beef and products made of it, as well as milk and dairy products from Ukraine; Serbia – for exports of fish and fish products; Turkey – for shipments of food collagen; and Japan for exports of Ukrainian poultry.

As UNIAN reported earlier, some 836 Ukrainian enterprises were granted the right to export foodstuffs of animal origin as of July 2018, according to the State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service of Ukraine.

A total of 306 companies have EU export licenses for animal products, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said.
