Ukroboronprom targets five-fold increase in arms exports by 2025, up to $2 bln a year – CEO Abromavicius

The new leadership of Ukroboronprom, Ukraine's state-owned defense concern, has set before the Ukrainian defense companies the task by 2025 to increase five-fold the volume of arms exports, up to $2 billion annually.

That's according to a newly-appointed Ukroboronprom CEO Aivaras Abromavicius, the concern's press service reports.

"In general, we have very decent products. But our arms exports are still at a fairly low level – about $400 million a year. Our goal is to increase Ukrainian arms exports to $2 billion by 2025," the press service quotes Abromavicius as saying.

According to the new CEO, today, revenue per employee is only $16,000 a year, while the world average in defense industry is $365,000. Therefore, he believes that it is necessary to increase production of civilian products, which will help maintain the right number of workers, develop enterprises, and attract youths.

According to UNIAN, SE Spetstekhnoexport over the seven months of 2019 concluded new foreign economic contracts worth $337 million, which is a record indicator for the company over the past ten years.
