Ukraine economy grows 4.6% in annual terms, Statistics Agency confirms

Against the previous quarter, GDP grew by 1.6%.

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has confirmed the earlier released estimate of real GDP growth in Ukraine in the second quarter of 2019 year-on-year by 4.6%.

The State Statistics Service says real GDP growth compared with the previous quarter amounted to 1.6%, taking into account the seasonal factor, which also corresponds to a previously published estimate.

It is also reported that the nominal GDP for the second quarter amounted to UAH 927.8 billion, and GDP per person – to UAH 22,047.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine improved the growth rate of real GDP of Ukraine in the first quarter of 2019 to 2.5% in annual terms from 2.2%, according to operational estimates.

The growth of real GDP of Ukraine in 2018 accelerated to 3.3% from 2.5% in 2017 and became the highest over the past seven years.

The state budget of Ukraine for 2019 is based on the government's macroeconomic forecast with real GDP growth laid down at 3%.

In July, the National Bank raised its forecast for the growth of real GDP of Ukraine in 2019 to 3% from 2.5% previously projected.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank forecast economic growth in Ukraine this year at 2.7%.

According to the consensus forecast by experts polled by UNIAN, in 2019, GDP growth in Ukraine will slow down to 2.8%.
