US agency may invest more in Ukraine

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the U.S. government's development finance institution (OPIC), could increase its portfolio in Ukraine from the current $200 million, Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius wrote on Twitter after the meeting with OPIC’s leadership in Washington.

"American OPIC is ready to increase its portfolio in Ukraine from the current $200 million," the minister tweeted.

According to the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development, the U.S. investment agency has identified potential areas of investment, including investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

As UNIAN reported earlier, OPIC’s budget per project is up to $250 million, while the number of projects is not limited.

OPIC invests with the aim of strengthening positive social and economic benefits, in areas such as agriculture, education, access to financing, housing for the poor, financing of small and medium business, health care, renewable energy, water supply and sanitation.
