According to Zelensky, further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund is an important element of increasing confidence of foreign investors and international partners in Ukraine, the President's Office said on Friday.

The parties discussed the IMF program of support to the ambitious agenda of reforms in Ukraine implemented by the president and the Ukrainian government and aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability and economic growth.

The head of state said that the newly elected Verkhovna Rada, in less than a month, had passed a number of draft laws aimed at reforming the financial sector, economic de-shadowing, and real fight against corruption.

"I assure you of full support for structural reforms in the economy, independence of the National Bank and comprehensive investigation into abuses in the banking sector," he said.

The parties also addressed the issue of further energy sector reforms and the situation with PrivatBank.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the IMF mission that arrived in Kyiv on September 11 will focus on the discussion of Ukraine's financial policies, the new government's plans, and the creation of an effective anti-corruption system. The mission will work in Ukraine until September 24.

The Cabinet of Ministers expects a new program of cooperation with the IMF, Ukraine's key lender, to be launched before the end of 2019.
