Decline in Ukraine's industrial production accelerates in Aug – Statistics

Industrial production in August 2019 fell both compared to July 2019 and August 2018.

Ukraine saw a 1.7% decline in industrial production in August 2019 year-over-year without calendar adjustment against a 0.2% decline (in annual terms) in July 2019.

If calendar adjustment is taken into account, industrial production in August 2019 fell by 1.6% year-over-year, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said on its website.

Industrial production in August 2019 compared to July 2019 declined by 1.4% (without calendar adjustment) and by 0.5% (with calendar adjustment).

The steepest decline in August 2019 against August 2018 was recorded in the manufacture of electrical equipment (21.4%) and motor vehicles (14.1%), and textile production (9.6%).

The largest growth was recorded in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (18%), the manufacture of other machinery and equipment (6.3%), and metal ores extraction (9.2%).

Ukraine's State Statistics Service says that its report excludes information from the Russia-occupied territories, namely the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a decline in industrial production in Ukraine in July 2019 slowed to 0.2% year-over-year, after a 2.3% decrease in June 2019.

In 2018, industrial production in Ukraine grew by 1.1% after a 0.1% decline in 2017.
