Decline of industrial output in Ukraine accelerates to 1.7% in Aug

Industrial output fell by 1.4% in August 2019 from July 2019.

The decline in industrial production in Ukraine accelerated to 1.7% in August 2019 year-over-year (y-o-y) without taking into account the adjustment for the effect of calendar days, after a 0.2% fall in July 2019 y-o-y.

Adjusted to the effect of calendar days, the industrial output in August dropped by 1.6% y-o-y, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service website.

Industrial output slid 1.4% in August 2019 against July 2019, without adjustment for the effect of calendar days, or by 0.5% with such adjustment.

The largest decline in annual terms was recorded in the manufacture of electrical equipment (by 21.4%), the manufacture of vehicles (by 14.1%), and textile industry (by 9.6%).

The highest increase in industrial output in August 2019 y-o-y was recorded in the production of computers, electronic and optical equipment (by 18%), the extraction of metal ores (by 9.2%), and the production of other machinery and equipment (by 6.3%).

The report does not include data from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's industrial output in July 2019 slowed to 0.2% y-o-y after a 2.3% fall in June 2019 y-o-y. In 2018, Ukraine saw a 1.1% growth in industrial production after a 0.1% decline in 2017.
