Price of applies has grown significantly in Ukraine this year, to UAH 10-UAH 12 (US$0.41-$0.49) per kilogram against 2018 due to poor harvest as a result of adverse weather conditions.

"Farmers say they harvested fewer apples this year due to [bad] weather conditions, that is spring frosts, rains or heat," the Ukrainian TSN news service wrote on September 24.

In particular, prices of apples start from UAH 12 per kilogram at Kyiv's markets. However, retail prices of the fruit may even reach UAH 15-UAH 17 ($0.61-$0.69), while wholesale prices are lower.

However, the profile association assures the apples will fall slightly in price soon: the wholesale prices will drop to UAH 6-UAH 9 [$0.24-$0.37] per kilogram depending on the variety," the publication said.
