Ukraine imports 6.27 bcm of gas from Europe in Aug-July

Ukraine in January-July 2019 imported from European countries a total of 6.27 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas worth US$1.3 billion.

Ukraine received 2.4 bcm of gas worth $485.6 million from traders registered in Switzerland, 2.06 bcm worth $413.5 million cubic meters (mcm) from Germany, 363.2 mcm worth $73.65 million from Hungary, 299.7 mcm worth $80.6 million from Austria, 362.5 mcm worth $72.2 million from the Czech Republic, 299 mcm worth $65 million from Poland, 233.1 mcm worth $48.7 million from France, 113.2 mcm worth $30.17 million from the United Kingdom, and 103.8 mcm worth $26.2 million from Luxembourg, according to the State Statistics Service.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in 2018 imported 10.39 bcm of natural gas totaling $3.12 billion. Ukraine in late November 2015 stopped purchasing natural gas from Russia's Gazprom.

In general, the country doubled gas imports from Europe in 2015 from 2014, to 10.3 bcm, reducing by 56.5% the purchase of hydrocarbons from Russia.

In 2016, Ukraine imported 11.1 bcm of gas from Europe alone, while gas imports in 2017 totaled 13.9 bcm.

Natural gas shipments from abroad in 2017 were estimated at $3.228 billion.
