Ukraine buys 6.27 bcm of natural gas worth US$1.3 bln abroad in Jan-July

Ukraine imported 6.27 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas worth US$1.3 billion in January-July 2019, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.

Swiss-registered companies delivered 2.4 bcm worth US$485.6 million to Ukraine, while German companies supplied 2.06 bcm worth US$413.5 million. Hungary sold Ukraine 363.2 million cubic meters (mcm) for US$73.65 million, Austria 299.7 mcm for US$80.6 million, the Czech Republic 362.5 mcm for US$72.2 million, Poland 299 mcm for US$65 million, France 233.1 mcm for US$48.7 million, the UK 113.2 mcm for US$30.17 million, Luxembourg 103.8 mcm for US$26.2 million.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine imported 10.39 bcm worth US$3.12 billion in 2018.

Late in November 2015, Ukraine stopped buying natural gas from Russia's Gazprom.

In 2015, Ukraine doubled imports of natural gas from Europe compared to 2014, to 10.3 bcm, having significantly reduced gas purchases from Russia.

In 2016, Ukraine imported 11.1 bcm of gas from the EU alone. In 2017, gas purchases in Europe totaled 13.9 bcm. The total cost of gas imported in 2017 amounted to US$3.228 billion.
