Ukraine sees 9.9% rise in retail trade in Jan-Aug

Retail turnover increased most in Vinnytsia, Ternopil, and Kyiv regions.

Retail trade in Ukraine grew by 9.9% in comparable prices in January-August 2019 year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 691.377 billion (US$28.7 billion).

Retail turnover increased most in Vinnytsia region (by 18.2%, to UAH 19.847 billion/$822.8 million), Ternopil region (by 17.1% to UAH 10.159 billion/$421.2 million), and Kyiv region (by 16% to UAH 52.117 billion/$2.2 billion), according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.

Retail trade in August 2019 alone rose by 6.7% against August 2018.

Trade through retail outlets in January-August 2019 was estimated at UAH 501.233 billion, or $20.8 billion, which was 11% up y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade in Ukraine increased by 6.1% in 2018 from 2017.
