Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk expects that a new cooperation program between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be signed in December this year.

"Colleagues from the world's influential organization came to Ukraine to start negotiations with us on a new three-year program," he said in a video address posted on his Facebook page. "This is the start of the talks which will continue for at least a few more months, until a new program is signed in December, as we plan."

Before the new program is signed, there will be several stages of the talks, he said.

In particular, in a few weeks, key ministers of the Ukrainian government will visit the IMF office in the United States, where, as expected, preliminary agreements will be reached on the composition and structure of the new program.

As UNIAN reported, a recent IMF assessment mission worked in Kyiv from September 12 to September 26. Following, the mission's work, the IMF said that discussion of a new three-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program for Ukraine would continue in the coming weeks.

The National Bank of Ukraine estimated the potential volume of the new program at between US$5 billion and US$10 billion and predicted the first disbursement worth US$2 billion before the end of the year.

Experts interviewed by UNIAN predict Ukraine will seek about US$10 billion under the new EFF program for a period of two to four years.
