The decision was made at the request of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine to ensure the implementation of budget programs in full. However, from January 13, 2020, money transfers will be carried out, using accounts only in line with the IBAN standard, the regulator said on its website on October 2.

According to the NBU, Ukrainian banks have been opening new accounts to their customers exclusively under the IBAN standard from August 5. At the same time, the existing accounts are being gradually changed in line with the new requirements.

As of October 1, the number of initial payments under the IBAN standards in the NBU's electronic payment system accounted for 61% of the total payments, the regulator said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank obliged Ukrainian banks to open new accounts to their customers, using international bank account numbers from August 5.

Initially, the regulator planned to introduce the mandatory use of IBANs for customers of all banks in Ukraine to carry out money transfers from November 1, 2019.
