Assets of Ukrainian banks down by 14% in March

The assets of Ukrainian banks in March 2015 decreased by UAH 229 billion or by 13.72%, and totaled UAH 1.440 trillion, according to a report published on the Web site of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to NBU data, since the beginning of the year, the banks’ assets have grown  by UAH 123 billion, or 9.34%.

The total assets of banks, net of adjustment for the amount of reserves, in March decreased by UAH 246 billion or 12.25%, amounting to UAH 1.762 trillion.

The liabilities of the banks in March decreased by UAH 235 billion or by 14.79%, amounting to UAH 1.354 trillion.

Meanwhile, the capital of the banks in March rose by UAH 6.048 billion or by 7.55%, to UAH 86.102 billion.

In March, the number of banks licensed to conduct banking activities decreased by three, and now amounts to 148 institutions, including one bank with the license of a remedial bank.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the assets of Ukrainian banks in February increased by UAH 363 billion or by 28%, to UAH 1.669 trillion.

In 2014, the banks' assets increased by UAH 38.757 billion or by 3.03%, to UAH 1.317 trillion.

As of January 1, 2015, there were 163 banks in Ukraine licensed to conduct banking operations.
