Donor conferences in support of Ukraine are scheduled for July in the United States and in September in Ukraine, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said during the regular Government Question Hour session in Ukraine’s parliament on Friday.
The prime minister noted that next week Ukraine would host a Ukraine-EU summit organized to consider the issue of macro-financial assistance to the country, as well as a donor conference in support of Ukraine.
"This conference will be the first in a series of conferences to be held during 2015" Yatseniuk said.
According to him, Germany is also organizing a similar conference.
"In September we plan to hold a big investment conference in Kyiv in order to attract private capital for modernization of the Ukrainian economy and overcoming the economic crisis in Ukraine," the prime minister said.
The idea of a donor conference in support of Ukraine was first proposed in the summer of 2014. Initially it was planned to hold a conference in December 2014, but the date had to be postponed several times.
Holding a donor conference is one of the ways to receive support of international partners within the framework of the program for Ukraine’s economic recovery approved by the country’s key creditor - the International Monetary Fund.
