Ukrainian businesses improve forecast for hryvnia rate within year

The survey was conducted from August 5 to September 3, 2019, among CEOs of 690 enterprises from 22 regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian businesses have improved expectations regarding the average exchange rate of the hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency, to the U.S. dollar in the forthcoming 12 months from UAH 28.82 per the dollar in the third quarter of 2019 to UAH 27.96.

The survey was conducted from Aug 5 to Sep 3, 2019, among CEOs of 690 enterprises from 22 regions of Ukraine, according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

As reported, the share of respondents, who expect that the forex rate of the hryvnia will not exceed UAH 29 per U.S. dollar in the next 12 months increased from to 55.1% in the previous quarter to 73.1%.

The share of respondents who were convinced that the exchange rate would not exceed UAH 27 per U.S. dollar also grew significantly, from 14.1% in the previous survey to 32.3%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's national currency in September 2019 strengthened by over 4% against the U.S. dollar, and by over 12% from the beginning of the year.

The National Bank set the official forex rate for the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar for Thursday, October 17, at UAH 24.84 per U.S. dollar, while against the euro –at UAH 27.38.

Ukraine's state budget for 2019 is based on the forecast rate set at UAH 29.4 to the dollar by the end of 2019.
