Active and dynamic: Ukraine's finance minister on ongoing IMF talks

Negotiations with the International Monetary Fund regarding a new program with Ukraine are taking place more actively and more dynamically than in previous years, says Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oksana Markarova.

Speaking with Voice of America in Washington, Markarova noted that all conditions for the new program put forward by the IMF were expected and, in one way or another, mentioned in previous programs.

UNIAN memo: The IMF's latest review mission worked in Kyiv Sep 12-26. Following the visit, the IMF said that discussion of a new three-year Extended Fund Facility for Ukraine would continue in the coming weeks.

The National Bank of Ukraine estimated the potential volume of the new program at $5-10 billion and predicted the receipt of the first $2 billion by the end of the year.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk said the Ukrainian delegation to the United States would continue talks with the IMF regarding a new three-year program, expected to be launched before year-end.
