Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk doesn't rule out that up to 10 large state-owned assets, including the giant postal service provider Ukrposhta, may be privatized.

"These enterprises can either be completely excluded from the privatization list or – what I like more – be prepared for the so-called IPO [an Initial Public Offering], that is, with access to foreign platforms to attract large investors," he said after a government meeting on Monday.

He mentioned Ukrposhta as an example of such a state-owned company.

"We may sell 20-30% of Ukrposhta's shares to different shareholders who would invest their money, provide the enterprise with resources, bring in the right corporate culture and let it strengthen its development," he explained.

At the same time, the prime minister emphasized that "the complete sale of such enterprises is a very difficult decision," therefore it must be handled very carefully.

"As a rule, in relation to such enterprises, we will most likely consider the issue of complete privatization with the condition that the state retains full control over such enterprises so that the function continues to be fulfilled," he said.

He also said the Cabinet of Ministers would by 2020 draw up an updated list of enterprises that are not subject to privatization.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on October 2 adopted a draft law that cancels the list of enterprises that are not subject to privatization.
