Partnership audits are a main tool for WANO activities aimed at improving the safety of the operation of nuclear power plants in the world.

The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between Energoatom and WANO Paris Center was signed by Energoatom President Yuriy Nedashkovsky, Chairman of WANO Paris Center Governors Erwin Fischer, and Chairman of WANO Moscow Center's Regional Governing Board Jaroslav Holubec.

The signing ceremony took place on October 20 during a WANO Biennial General Meeting, held in London on October 20-22 and dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Association.

The document was signed at Energoatom's initiative. According to the Memorandum, after a number of measures have been taken to prepare the accession of Energoatom to WANO Paris Center, the later, starting from 2022, will organize and conduct regular peer reviews at Ukraine's NPPs in line with the rules and in the manner established in WANO Program Guideline WPG 02 – Peer Review.

During the said WANO Biennial General Meeting, Nedashkovsky also participated in a closed meeting of heads of organizations – members of the Association, the Extraordinary General Meeting of WANO, the General Meeting of WANO-MC, and the meeting of the Board of Governors of WANO-MC and WANO-PC.

As was earlier reported, Energoatom in 2016 initiated the first peer review at Ukrainian-based Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, which was conducted by experts from WANO Paris Center.
