At the same time, the tax base in September 2019 expanded by a mere 3.5% y-o-y from UAH 731.4 billion (US$29.4 billion) to UAH 757.1 billion (US$30.4 billion).

Over the past two months, the growth rate of VAT accrued accelerated, the agency's press service said on October 23.

"The State Tax Service is stepping up its analytical work, thereby increasing the efficiency of VAT administration. As a result, budget revenue has been growing," STS Chairman Serhiy Verlanov said.

According to the official, the service returns additional billions of hryvnias, Ukraine's national currency, to the budget due to the new approaches. "This is intellectual rather than physical activity," he said on Facebook.

As was earlier reported, the VAT accrued in August 2019 totaled UAH 19.8 billion (US$795.5 million), which was 17.2% up from UAH 16.9 billion (US$679 million) reported y-o-y.
