Ukrainian state oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy on April 2 transferred to Russia’s Gazprom the first $30-million tranche of an advance payment for the supply of natural gas in the second quarter, the Ukrainian company has said.
The second, $20-million tranche for the supply of natural gas in April was transferred on April 14.
As reported earlier, on April 1, Ukrainian Naftogaz and Gazprom signed a three-month contract for the supply of Russian gas to Ukraine at a price of $248 per thousand cubic meters. According to Ukrainian Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn, the price of gas for Ukraine under reverse deliveries from Europe amounts to around $270 per thousand cubic meters.
The minister said that Ukraine would continue purchasing gas on the European market in spite of the decline in prices for Russian gas.
