Ukraine boosts agri-exports by 21.5% in Jan-Sept, mainly to EU, Asia, Africa

China ranked first among countries importing Ukrainian agricultural products, having bought foodstuffs worth US$1.36 billion.

Ukraine in January-September 2019 boosted exports of agricultural products by 21.5%, mainly to the countries of the European Union, Asia, and Africa.

"Agri-food exports in January-September 2019 stood at US$15.8 billion, which exceeded by US$2.8 billion, or 21.5%, the corresponding figure reported for the nine months of 2018," the press service of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economy" said on October 29, referring to its deputy director Mykola Pugachov.

Asian countries accounted for 41.4% of agri-exports over the period under review, as they purchased Ukrainian foodstuffs worth US$6.52 billion.

The EU Member States accounted for a third of Ukraine's agricultural exports (33.9%) with $5.34 billion worth of foodstuffs delivered.

The country delivered food products there worth US$5.34 billion.

The share of African countries was 15.2% (US$2.4 billion).

China ranked first among countries importing Ukrainian agricultural products, having bought foodstuffs worth US$1.36 billion in January-September 2019, which was 85% up year-over-year.

However, Ukraine reduced agri-exports to the CIS countries over the nine months, with their market share shrinking to 6.6%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2018 Ukraine's foreign trade in agricultural products increased by US$1.7 billion, to US$24.3 billion. Exports of Ukrainian agricultural products reached a record $18.8 billion, while imports stood at US$5.5 billion.
