Wage arrears in Ukraine grow to US$125 mln in Sept

Ukrainian enterprises' wage arrears before workers in September 2019 grew by 11.5% from August 2019, to UAH 3.141 billion (US$125 million) as of October 1, 2019.

Delayed wages at operating enterprises were estimated at UAH 1.97 billion (US$78.6 million) as of October 1, 2019, which was 18.8% up from the figure reported as of September 1, 2019, the State Statistics Service reported.

The report does not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the minimum wage in Ukraine grew on January 1, 2019, from UAH 3,723 (US$149) to UAH 4,173 ($166).

The average nominal wage of a full-time employee grew by 18.2% in Ukraine in September 2019 year-over-year, to UAH 10,687, or US$426.

The National Bank of Ukraine expects a slowdown in the growth of wages and salaries in Ukraine, forecasting an increase in nominal wages by 16% and by 10% (or by 7% and 5% in real hryvnias) in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
