Ukraine government mulls concession deals for sea ports as early as 2020

The move may cover ports in Odesa, Mariupol, Berdyansk, and Chornomorsk.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is set to offer as early as next year concession projects for managing a number of Ukrainian sea ports.

The move may cover ports in Odesa, Mariupol, Berdyansk, and Chornomorsk, according to Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy, who spoke at an investment forum in Mariupol Tuesday, Oct 29.

"We are ready to offer, starting next year, concession projects for the seaports of Odesa, Mariupol, Berdyansk, as well as Chornomorsk," the minister said.

According to him, the government is confident that the joint management of these assets together with investors will be more successful.

He also recalled the holding of a tender for the transfer to the concession of the ports of Olvia and Kherson, which will continue until late December.

According to UNIAN, on Sept 12, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine announced tenders for the transfer to concession of property of state-owned Olivia Stevedoring Company and Kherson Commercial Sea Port, as well as property of the Ukrainian Seaport Authority.

At the Olvia Port, concession was granted for 35 years, while at the Kherson port – for 30 years.
