Ukraine's government hopes to receive UAH 12 billion, or US$484 million, in privatization receipts in 2020.

The Cabinet of Ministers updated the draft of the country's budget for 2020, which was submitted to parliament for consideration in the second reading, having fixed privatization revenues at UAH 12 billion – UAH 6 billion from the sale of large- and small-sized facilities each.

"We will transfer enterprises that are ineffective to efficient owners, so that they could create jobs and establish viable enterprises on the basis of those facilities," Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk said when introducing the document.

Privatization should be one of the drivers for attracting investment, he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on October 2 adopted a law cancelling the list of enterprises whose privatization was earlier banned.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to transfer at least 500 enterprises to the State Property Fund by December 1, 2019, for subsequent sale through the ProZorro.Sale electronic trading system as part of small-scale privatization.
