Ukraine in January-September 2019 boosted exports of oilseeds in monetary terms to US$1.649 billion, which was almost a quarter (23.2%), up on the same last year.
Most of the produce was supplied to the European Union, the press center of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economy" has said, citing its deputy director Mykola Pugachov.
"Further strengthening of the European vector in the domestic export of oilseeds was a key feature of January-September 2019. In general, EU countries purchased about 63.9% of this type of produce from Ukraine," he said.

Germany is in the lead among the EU countries, its share in the total exports of oilseeds from Ukraine was 18.7%.
In addition to European countries, other major buyers of Ukrainian oilseeds for the indicated period were Turkey (16.4%) and Egypt (7.3%).
Rapeseed crops top the list of oilseed exports from Ukraine, the expert said.
In the nine months of the current year, Ukraine shipped 2.3 million tonnes of rapeseeds worth US$911 million abroad. In addition, it exported 2.1 million tonnes of soybeans worth US$683 million and 71,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds worth US$29 million.
Also, in January-September 2019, Ukraine exported fats and oils to the tune of US$3.331 billion, which was 3.9% more than last year's figures for the corresponding period. In particular, sunflower oil shipments abroad amounted to US$3 billion.
According to Pugachov, India has been the main buyer of Ukrainian-made fats and oils since 2015. Its share in January-September 2019 was 31.3% of total Ukrainian exports.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian Grain Association revised upwards its forecast for grain and oilseeds in the marketing year 2019-2020 (MY, July 2019 – June 2020) from 94.7 million tonnes, to 95.1 million tonnes.
