National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine seeks to recover from Gazprom the debt worth US3 billion before the end of 2020
The Ukrainian company is now awaiting a ruling of the High Court of Amsterdam, expected to be handed down in 1Q 2020, to enforce debt recovery from the Russian monopoly in line with the Stockholm arbitration award, Naftogaz Executive Director Yuriy Vitrenko wrote on Facebook.
“A court decision is expected in the first quarter of next year. The cost of the arrested assets [of Gazprom] in the Netherlands, according to reports, exceeds $3 billion. In case of a positive court ruling, the recovery process, according to our estimates, will last from the second quarter to the end of next year," the official wrote.

According to Vitrenko, for December of this year, court hearings are scheduled, which the Russian side has been trying to postpone.
"On December 4 this year, a hearing is scheduled in a court of the city of Amsterdam on our lawsuit regarding the recognition of the Stockholm arbitration award and the enforcement of this award in the Netherlands. Gazprom has made every effort to postpone these hearings," he said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, at the end of May, Naftogaz began the process of forcing $2.6 billion debt recovery from Gazprom in foreign courts.
Litigations over the seizure of Gazprom’s assets are ongoing in the UK, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Among the assets that are of interest to the Ukrainian side are shares of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline operator companies.
