The Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) at an extraordinary meeting on November 7 failed to consider the appointment of its new head to replace Bohdan Danylyshyn, whose tenure expired on October 27.

In order to conduct a meeting in the absence of a legitimate head and his deputy, the council had to elect the chair of the meeting, but the votes of the present members of the council on this issue were equally divided – four by four. In this regard, the issue of electing the head of the council or his deputy was not considered, an informed source at the NBU told UNIAN.

The source also said the next meeting of the council would be held on November 14, which is the deadline for resolving the issue, since the current legislation requires that the Council approve by November 15 the estimate of the NBU's administrative expenses for the next year.
