Inflation in Ukraine slows to 6.5% in Oct y-o-y

Inflation in Ukraine in October 2019 was 6.5% year-over-year (y-o-y), having slowed from 7.5% in September 2019 against September 2018.

Consumer prices in October 2019 rose by 0.7% compared to September 2019, after a similar increase in September 2019 against August 2019, Ukraine's State Statistics Service said on its website.

Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in Ukraine have increased by 4.2%.

Prices of vegetables again grew most: in October 2019 their growth was 23.1% y-o-y, while prices of fruit increased by 19.4%. Tariffs on hot water with heating and railway fares for passengers went up by 19% each. Telecoms service providers raised their rates by 15.5%.

Meanwhile, prices of eggs fell by 18.5%, those of petrol and diesel fuel decreased by 13.5%, natural gas by 12.5%, clothes and shoes by 0.6%.

The State Statistics Service says its report does not include data from Russia-occupied parts of Ukraine, namely Crimea with Sevastopol, and certain districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in September 2019 was 7.5% y-o-y, having slowed from 8.8% in August 2019 against August 2018.

In 2018, inflation in Ukraine slowed to 9.8% against 13.7% in 2017, which was the lowest indicator in the past five years.
