Trade turnover in agricultural products between Ukraine and the European Union in January-September 2019 rose by 23% year-over-year (y-o-y), to a record US$7.5 billion.

"At the same time, the positive balance was US$3.2 billion," the press service of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economy" said on November 11, referring to its deputy director Mykola Pugachov.

Seven countries, namely the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and Belgium remain Ukraine's major partners in terms of trade in farm produce. Their aggregate share is 4/5 in mutual trade in agricultural products. Moreover, Ukraine-Belgium trade in agri-products increased by 19% to US$401 million.

According to Pugachov, grains, oilseeds, sunflower oil, and cake were the major staples of the country's shipments to Europe.

The expert says Ukraine may set a record in terms of trade this year.

"In general, while maintaining the current trends, Ukraine may set a new record in agricultural exports to the European Union in 2019," the press service quoted Pugachov as saying.
