Oil rises above $69 per barrel

In the course of trading on the Intercontinental Exchange, the price of Brent futures rose above $69 a barrel for the first time in five months on Wednesday, and on the backdrop of higher oil prices the ruble strengthened against the dollar to below RUB 50 to the dollar.

The price of Brent crude oil rose for the third day in a row. On Monday, the price of a barrel rose above $67 for the first time in 2015, hitting the level of $68 the next day, and even $69.13 during trading on ICE Exchange on May 6, which is 2.38% higher than the closing level of the previous trading day.

The growth of oil prices was followed by a new appreciation of the ruble. During today's trading on the Moscow stock exchange, the dollar weakened to RUB 49.593, down by 90.3 kopecks against the previous day’s closing.

The euro dropped to RUB 55.873, down by 63.3 kopecks against the previous day’s closing. The official dollar and euro exchange rates have dropped today by more than a ruble.
