The land market bill will not be discussed at second reading if the relevant amendment isn't introduced, Arakhamia promised.

Head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction David Arakhamia has vowed an amendment to the draft law introducing land reform to ban land sales to foreign nationals and entities.

The amendment will be supported in preparation for the bill's second reading, Arakhamia told journalists, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"I'll tell you frankly, if this amendment isn't introduced, there'll be no second reading, including within our faction," he said.

The MP says many faction members oppose land sales to foreign nationals.

At the same time, Arakhamia claims the entire faction, "except for three or four people who abstain," is ready to support the bill at first reading. He said the decision was made at a faction meeting held earlier today.

Asked to comment on the suggestion that the faction lacked sufficient votes until President Zelensky came to attend the faction meeting, Arakhamia said: "Of course, the president gives our lawmakers confidence. This is a normal process since the level of trust in him is very high."

The president earlier guaranteed that land sales to foreigners could only be allowed if the Ukrainian people support the idea in a referendum.
