Ukroboronprom says to enhance cooperation with law enforcers

Ukraine's state-run Ukroboronprom Concern says it will enhance cooperation with law enforcement agencies as part of ongoing investigations.

The new team initiated a meeting with representatives of Ukraine's law enforcement agencies to boost cooperation and assist in the investigation of criminal and corruption offenses committed over the previous years, according to Ukroboronprom's press service.

"We strive to clear the name of Ukroboronprom and protect the industry from corruption. We are open to cooperation, there is no information that we would hide from law enforcers," Ukroboronprom CEO Aivaras Abromavicius said.

He added most criminal cases were opened under Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The cases are about abuses of office by former managers totaling over UAH 1 billion (US$41 million).

"At the invitation of the concern, representatives of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police of Ukraine, the SBU Security Service of Ukraine and the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine joined the meeting," reads the report.

NABU Director Artem Sytnyk said this was the first example of such an initiative with the assistance of state-owned enterprises.

"From now on, the concern, as a management company, will provide all the necessary documents and will cooperate with law enforcement agencies as much as possible," Abromavicius said.

Since 2012, investigators launched 625 criminal proceedings, where Ukroboronprom enterprises are involved.
