One of the key issues on the agenda of the meeting in Brussels will be preparations for the implementation of the economic part of Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, starting from January 1, 2016.

Abromavicius is scheduled to have a series of top-level meetings in at European government institutions. The range of problems to be discussed in the meeting is the expansion of a free trade and the reduction of trade barriers, the press office of Ukraine’s Ministry of Economic Development reports.

In addition, the minister’s agenda for the visit includes meetings with EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström and the Chairman of the Committee on International Trade of the European Parliament Bernd Lange.

Abromavicius will also brief his European colleagues on the progress of economic reforms in Ukraine, in particular, on further steps towards the deregulation of the business environment.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine and the European Union are considering the establishment of a joint institutional body that will be responsible for trade and economic development following the implementation of the Association Agreement.

The European Union has rejected Russia’s request to postpone for another year the creation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU.
