The negotiations on restructuring Ukraine’s public debt of $23 billion, started by the government of Ukraine in March of this year, have to be completed in May-June, Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalia Jaresko said at a meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. Business Council on Thursday.
The minister said the results of the restructuring would affect the disbursement of a second tranche of a loan to Ukraine by its key creditor, the International Monetary Fund.
"It is crucial to finish the negotiations in May and June to get a positive decision on the provision of the second tranche of the IMF loan," Jaresko said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the negotiations on restructuring the country’s public debt of $23 billion were launched on March 13 - soon after the approval by the IMF of a new lending program to the country worth $17.5 billion.
