Energoatom generates nearly 67.3 bln kWh of electricity in 10 months

The company's power plants supplied 63.17 billion kWh of electricity over the period under review.

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, generated 67.271 billion kWh of electricity in January-October 2019, which was 1.047 billion kWh, or 1.6%, up from the target set for the period.

Over the period under review, Energoatom's power plants supplied 63.170 billion kWh of electricity, which was 1.168 billion kWh up from the target. The plan for electricity supplies was fulfilled by 101.9%, according to the company's report released on November 18.

The installed capacity utilization factor in the 10 months of 2019 was 66.5%, which was 1.2 p.p. down year-over-year. Over the period under review, Energoatom's share was 53.1% in Ukraine's electricity generation.

"In 10 months of 2019, some UAH 10.323 billion [US$426.218 million] in taxes was paid to budgets of all levels and UAH 2.13 billion [US$87.944 million] in insurance payments," the report said.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
