"Today we are talking about the opening of the so-called land market [in Ukraine] in the autumn of 2020 ... If, approaching this date with the entire state machine working, we see that there are issues that cannot be resolved, the parliament will take appropriate decisions," he told a Svoboda Slova [Freedom of Speech] panel show on Ukraine's ICTV channel on November 18.

This requires the political will and the interaction between different vertical power structures, the parliamentary majority, and the opposition, he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a bill designed to launch the farmland market in Ukraine from October 1, 2020, passed its first reading on November 13.

According to World Bank forecasts, the opening of the agricultural land market may annually inject an additional US$700 million to US$1.5 billion into the Ukrainian economy.
